Located in the Textile and Garment College of Jiangnan University, the Folk Costume Museum of Jiangnan University was completed in 2008 and opened to the public. It is the only museum in China that collects and researches Han folk costume, and aims to rescue and protect the art of Han folk costume, inherit and promote Han folk costume culture.
The exhibition area of more than 800 square meters, divided into two floors, a total of four halls: northern folk clothing exhibition hall, inheritance and innovation design exhibition hall, southern folk clothing boutique exhibition hall and special clothing exhibition hall.
The students carefully visited and saw the differences and changes of folk costumes in the north and South in modern times, and also felt the evolution of ancient and modern customs and social development level hidden in them. The essence of "passing on" in the study hall is not only "protecting" and "rescuing" traditional folk costumes, but more importantly, "activating" and "regenerating" the spiritual connotation and cultural traditions of traditional folk costumes, which is the protection and inheritance of the true meaning of Chinese folk art heritage.
