It's hard enough to fend off begging eyes and furry faces when you have nothing, let alone Thanksgiving, when there are lots of big dinners. As a responsible owner, keep your dog away from these ten tips. Your little ones may resent you for one night, but their stomachs will thank you for your wisdom the next.
1.Roast Turkey skin
As far as the Turkey itself is concerned, the fat covered in the skin is the most difficult to digest. But it's even worse on Thanksgiving (when the chicken is coated with butter, spices, and other high-fat, high-protein stuff). If you must share Turkey with your dog, be sure to peel the skin, cut the chicken into regular pieces, and consider choosing tender meat beneath the skin. Although the flavor will be light and bland, it will be easier to digest.
2. Cooked bones
Whether it is duck, goose or Turkey, do not allow your dog to eat cooked bone. You might argue that TV and cartoon dogs are used to having a bone gnawed in their mouth, but the reality is that cooked bones are often unreliable. Veterinarians can often extract sharp objects from your pet's intestines, often from parts of bird bones that break easily.
3. Chocolate
It's no secret that chocolate is highly toxic to dogs and cats (and can damage their kidney function), but owners tend to overlook the variety of sweets on display during the holidays. Many candies contain chocolate or cocoa powder, so be careful to keep your pet away from these dangerous foods.
4. Glass ornaments
Candles and glass ornaments can be beautiful and convenient, but like chocolate, they can be fatal to your dog and must be avoided carefully.
5. Plants for holiday decorations
Although it is Thanksgiving, many family halls are already decorated with beautiful plants. It is worth noting that poinsettias, Holly berries, mistletoe and cedar Christmas trees can be toxic to dogs and cats.
